I just self-published my first book. Do you know what I did? I just thought that you sit back, relax and let the book sales start coming in. Boy was I wrong!

It took me a while to understand that there is more to just self-publishing a book. You also have to market the book to the correct individuals, in order to get your books in the right hands. That takes some time to do. However, it’s needed in order to see your book progress and reach its potential audience.

Here are a few tips that you can use to self-promote your new book and get your book to the right people, after having done so.

Are you ready to market your book to the right people? Let me know. Please feel free to ask your questions or concerns below. I will be happy to help you!

“Don’t just hit the finish button when you first publish your book! It has to get to the right hands with marketing.”

Social media

Social media is the first place to get your book out to the people who need to see it. Prior to publishing a book, it’s best to have a social media presence, so that people can relate to you easily and then want to purchase your book.

Here are a few social media places to promote your book:

  • Instagram – Reels are really effective when trying to get your book out to as many people as possible. You can also mix it up with posts about your book and also excerpts from your book.
  • Facebook – Similar to Instagram, do posts and reels about your book. Another thing to do is to join Facebook groups that have people who will connect with your book and may want to purchase it.
  • Twitter – Tweet about your book and also tweet excerpts from your book to promote interest.
  • Pinterest – Make relevant pins about your book, including excerpts to people who may need that particular message when searching for it. You can also do reels on Pinterest to promote your book.

Promote on your blog

If you have already established a blog, then post your book to your blog. That way when people visit your blog, they can also come across your book as well.

If you don’t have a blog as yet, you can also do an opt-in page of your book with the details and have that available wherever you chose to advertise your book.

Book Promotion Websites

There are websites that are actually out there to help spread the word about your book. They are called book promotion websites.

There are so many websites available that will promote your book based on your book’s design for me to list them all. Therefore do a Google search to find and review the ones that are the best fit for you and your book.

Join writing Groups

Writing groups are also great places to network and talk about your writing with others. What better place than to share with people who love books and writing.

A few that I have found are:

Podcasts

Podcasts are also a good way to promote your book and talk about what your book is about. You can either start your own podcast or be a guest on podcasts that shares an interest in your book.

Book fairs

Either joining a local book fair or having your own book fair is another way to promote interest in your book. People who are interested in your book will be able to find it and also purchase a copy from you.

Book Tours

Doing a book tour around the country may be a little bit advanced, especially for newbie writers, however, the more you become established as a writer, the more you will have to do book tours all over the country to promote your book.

It may not be right now, but keep this idea in your mind as you move closer to becoming an established writer.

Forums

Forums are also a great place to spread interest about your book. You can join forums that are unique to the people who would like to purchase your book.

Be informed that most forums do not allow you to write or add links to posts that look like advertising. Therefore, the forums are just a way for people to bond with you over similar topics you may have discussed in your book in hopes that they will click your bio or profile to find out more about you and your books.
